Your role and learning opportunity

As an HR & People Operations Intern, you will support the People & Places team across a wide range of activities, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, mission-driven tech environment.

This internship is ideal for someone curious about how HR operates within a scaling startup, covering everything from recruitment and employee experience to HR administration and office operations. You’ll work closely with the team and contribute to creating a smooth and engaging employee journey.

Important Notes:

  • This is a practical internship which provides hands-on, immersive experience in the world of work

  • The Internship duration is at least 6 months (32-40 hours/week)

  • The start date is Immediate

  • This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Please ensure that you meet the legal requirements to undertake an internship in The Netherlands.

  • You must be based in The Netherlands, ideally near Amsterdam. Monthly stipend together with transportation allowance are offered, however, accommodation is not provided.

Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll be learning and supporting

  • HR Operations & Administration: Develop an understanding of core HR Operations by supporting employee data management, onboarding/offboarding processes, and general administrative tasks within the People team.

  • Employee Experience & HR Projects: Learn how to support employee engagement initiatives and contribute to HR projects related to performance, learning, and overall employee experience.

  • Office & Workplace Management: Build practical experience in office operations by supporting day-to-day workplace needs, vendor coordination, and internal event organization.

  • HR Tools & Process Improvement: Gain exposure to HR systems (HRIS, ATS) and explore opportunities to improve processes, including the use of automation and AI tools.

What we’re looking for

  • Recently graduated or currently pursuing (as long as your schedule allows 32-40 hours/week) Degree in HR, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.

  • Interest in HR, people topics, and startup environments. Most importantly, you’re eager to work for and with people.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn in a dynamic environment.

  • Comfortable handling administrative tasks while staying curious about the bigger picture.

  • Strong communication skills in English.

  • High level of self-awareness. No one is perfect, but you bring a reflective understanding of your strengths, natural pitfalls and how to cope with these.

  • Bonus points if you’ve had exposure to HR tools, enjoy working with data, and have a curiosity (or even better, a passion) for automation & AI. If you believe in working smarter, not harder, thrive on continuous improvement, and naturally look for ways to optimise and improve whatever can be optimised, you’ll fit right in.

  • You are already based in the Netherlands, within commuting distance to Amsterdam

  • Lastly, you’re intrinsically driven to get the most out of this internship! It probably will not fit if you’re applying because you have to. It will fly if you’re applying because you eagerly want to!

  • Apart from working with great colleagues and a competitive package, you can also expect:

  • A unique start-up environment offering organic professional and personal growth at one of the most innovative cleantech companies in Amsterdam!
