Would you like to develop software for cool innovative technical applications, like unmanned and autonomous vessels? Do you thrive working in a small team? Keeping track of the overview for the entire system is one of your strengths? Then we might be looking for you!

About Demcon

At DEMCON Unmanned Systems (DUS), we design, develop and build advanced Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) that perform critical missions in inland, coastal and offshore environments. Our autonomous and remotely operated vessels support applications such as hydrographic surveying, offshore wind inspections, environmental monitoring, security operations and maritime infrastructure maintenance.

What makes us unique is that we develop the complete ecosystem ourselves: from vessels and embedded control systems to autonomous navigation software, remote operating centres and mission management applications. As part of the DEMCON Group, you will combine the agility of a growing technology company with access to world-class expertise in software, robotics, electronics and systems engineering. Join us in building the next generation of autonomous maritime systems and help shape safer, smarter and more sustainable operations on and around the water.

What are you going to do?

n this role, you will work on developing software for unmanned vehicles and autonomous navigation technologies. You will take a hands-on approach to various software development projects, know how to tackle challenging problems, and enjoy developing new features. You will maintain an overview, ensure quality, and assist teammates in the development process. You will work on new – and maintain existing – drivers for different types of devices on board the USV (e.g. motors, winches, gyro stabilizers, radar and GPS-systems). In addition, you will primarily contribute to software development—from simulation through implementation and maintenance—of system functionalities such as the autopilot, mission planner and sensor acquisition.

What do you bring to the table?

  • Analytical skills and the ability to work independently;
  • Experience in C/C++;
  • Familiarity with various embedded communication protocols such as UART, CAN and Modbus;
  • You are accustomed to working with Linux;

  • A background in computer vision and/or robotics;
  • Experience with computer networking;
  • Experience with ROS2;
  • Experience debugging issues at the interface between software and hardware;
  • Experience with PLCs/CodeSys;
