The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) is looking for an inspiring and entrepreneurial Associate Professor for the research domain “Designing Value Networks.”

In this role, you will strengthen practice-oriented research and contribute to societal transitions by connecting organizations, professionals, citizens, technology, and policy into sustainable and meaningful value networks.

About the role
As Associate Professor, you will support the professor in providing academic and strategic leadership to a multidisciplinary research group operating at the intersection of innovation, collaboration, systems thinking, and societal impact. You will help shape applied research that supports organizations and public partners in designing, governing, and sustaining value networks in complex environments.

You will combine a strong research profile with the ability to coach junior and lecturer-researchers, build partnerships and lead collaborative innovation. The position emphasizes developing leadership in research, external collaboration, and knowledge circulation within education and professional practice.

You will:

• Develop your own research within research line “Designing Value Networks”;
• (co)author scientific and practice publications;
• initiate and coordinate practice-oriented research projects with regional, national, and international partners;
• acquire external funding and strengthen strategic partnerships;
• coach researchers and lecturer-researchers;
• contribute to innovation in education by connecting research, professional practice, and learning communities;
• represent THUAS in relevant professional and academic networks;
• contribute to societal challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration and impact-driven research.

Wat vragen wij van jou?

We are looking for a collaborative and inspiring researcher with the ambition to grow into leadership in applied research and societal innovation.

You bring:

• a completed PhD relevant to the domain;
• an established track record in research, preferably in areas related to networks, ecosystems, systems innovation, transition design, organizational design, digital transformation, and/or societal transitions;
• experience in coaching junior researchers;
• demonstrable success in developing partnerships and acquiring research funding;
• the ability to connect research, education, and professional practice;
• strong communication and networking skills;
• an inclusive leadership style and commitment to collaborative knowledge development.

First and foremost, it's important that you are able to enjoy your work. In addition, we offer you:

• An appointment of 0,5 fte, 20 hours per week;
• A salary between € 6.783,11 and 8.687,82 gross per month (scale 14) for a full-time work week;
• 8% vacation allowance;
• Guaranteed end-of-year pay of 8,3%;
• An extensive leave arrangement;
• The choice between an NS Business card (2nd class) for your commutes or a kilometer based compensation.

The research domain focuses on how organizations and stakeholders co-create value in increasingly interconnected and dynamic environments. The research group explores how value networks can be designed, governed, and sustained to address complex societal and organizational challenges. Themes may include digital ecosystems, public-private collaboration, sustainable innovation, platform organizations, social impact, and systems approaches to transformation.
