We’re now looking for a Clinical Digital Innovation Lead, where you will drive the design, evaluation, and responsible integration of advanced digital and AI-enabled solutions across Clinical Development & Operations (CD&O). You lead high-priority strategic initiatives that enhance scientific excellence, operational performance, patient centricity, and business agility. Collaborating closely with CD&O teams, R&D functions, DS&AI, and relevant partners, you identify and prioritize digital and AI opportunities that demonstrably improve processes and outcomes. A core focus is establishing governance, standards, and best practices for the safe, compliant, and value-oriented introduction of AI into clinical processes — from early assessment and experimentation through scaled implementation. This role requires a forward-looking individual with strong domain understanding, sharp analytical capabilities, and the ability to translate emerging technologies into tangible business impact.
This position can be located in Espoo, Finland or Basel, Switzerland.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Define and evolve the CD&O AI opportunity pipeline by scanning emerging technologies, evaluating feasibility, and prioritizing use cases based on strategic fit, risk, and measurable value
Establish and steward governance frameworks for AI usage in clinical processes, ensuring transparency, traceability, responsible use, and compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements
Partner with Data Science (DS) &AI, IT, and clinical teams to assess, prototype, and validate AI solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs and scientific and operational standards
Lead or oversee the implementation of selected digital and AI initiatives, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into operational processes and deliver intended outcomes
Drive structured evaluation of AI-enabled solutions, using metrics and data-driven assessments to measure impact on efficiency, quality, and user experience
Support market and vendor assessments, including AI-focused technologies, platforms, and service providers
Collaborate with clinical subject matter experts, DS&AI, IT, and process owners to shape high-quality, user-centric solutions
Facilitate cross-functional working sessions to define requirements, validate concepts, and integrate learnings into iterative development cycles
Drive targeted and reliable management of assigned key stakeholders, developing tailored engagement roadmaps that foster mutual clarity, alignment, and sustained satisfaction
Build strong partnerships with internal and external innovation networks to stay abreast of AI and digital advancements relevant to clinical development
Lead structured change management and communication approaches to ensure adoption of new digital and AI-based ways of working
Translate complex digital/AI topics into clear, understandable messaging for stakeholders at all levels
Model and promote a culture of experimentation, continuous learning, and responsible innovation.
WHO YOU ARE
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, Engineering, or Life Sciences with strong digital and AI exposure
Minimum of 6 years of experience working with digital solutions in healthcare, clinical development, or adjacent domains
Hands-on experience evaluating or applying AI/ML technologies to real-world problems
Strong understanding of clinical processes and workflows, and the ability to translate them into digital and AI-enabled improvements
Demonstrated capability to analyze data, build business cases, and guide decision-making using evidence and metrics
Strong communication skills to convey complex topics clearly and align diverse stakeholders
Effective change leader able to collaborate across functions and influence without authority
Solid project leadership skills from concept to implementation
Knowledge of regulatory and ethical considerations related to AI and digital technologies in healthcare
Demonstrates high self-awareness, system thinking, and inclusive leadership
Embraces rapid learning cycles, experimentation, and continuous improvement
