Finland is a base for global pharmaceutical production, research & development and worldwide clinical trials. In Finland, Bayer employs roughly 1000 people, located in Espoo and Turku.
We are currently seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer for a permanent position to join us and be part of the agile global Functional IT Team. We are innovative and we work in product driven organization to support our production and R&D sites and secure their business continuity. You will be located in Turku.
As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you will manage IT infrastructure services and the provision of expertise to develop architectural solutions for infrastructure services, throughout the service product lifecycle. In this role you will:
- Oversee IT projects and programs
- Work with application and data engineers to translate technical designs into operations and support those engineers in operationalizing the designs
- Lead and direct IT infrastructure specialist teams in building, managing, supporting, and maintaining solutions according to architectural guideline.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design IT architecture by understanding end to end business requirements
- Design, build, and maintain robust IT infrastructure and services with security controls embedded
- Automate manual processes, architecting IT for greater scalability and standardization
- Contribute to business prioritization, direct strategic roadmap planning and optimization, portfolio management, and product management activities
- Provide strategic consultation to business and effectively review, advise, and support architecture related decisions of stakeholders
- Select, champion, and provide advice for strategic themes the company could benefit from such as cloud native transformation, AI, DevOps, IoT, and Infrastructure as code principles
- Forecast the potential outcomes of technology decisions and weigh them against business value and risk factors
- Participate in the design of IT infrastructure architectural artifacts (reference architectures, blueprints, policies, guidelines etc.) and oversee implementation and delivery
- Create roadmaps for IT landscape or parts of it based on the IT Strategy and aligned with business needs
- Take data-driven decisions to ensure the creation of measurable business outcomes
- Stay up to date on future innovations and technical trends and drive the continuous improvement of IT architecture
- Build strong partnerships with key stakeholders and vendors across various geographies
WHO YOU ARE
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
- University degree (Bachelor or Master) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Language skills; Fluent Finnish and high proficiency level in English
- Proven experience in designing, developing, delivering and leading IT infrastructure solutions and projects in a complex environment
- Strong knowledge of IT service management processes (ITIL) and ability to write technical position papers, solve critical design problems, or assist with domain architectural issues
- Hands-on technical skills and administration experience including IT Infrastructure (Active Directory, VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix, Backup solutions, networking, scripting) and Cyber security
- Experience in cloud engineering and architectural concepts, preferably Azure
- Knowledge and experience in agile and lean methodologies
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions and recommendations and to drive actions
- Ability to convince teams to test out new processes and methods regularly
- Stay informed on emerging cloud and IT infrastructure technologies and best practices to drive innovation
- Ready to think, behave and act in an innovative consulting manner to drive the organization’s digital business strategies
- Strong business acumen and proven ability to grow respectful and inclusive relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and suppliers
- Medical sector experience and GxP knowledge are considered as an advantage in this role
