We are now hiring a Legal Counsel to join in Bayer Nordics’ Law, Patents & Compliance team in Finland. Working place can be either, preferably both, Espoo and Turku offices. This role is a parental leave substitution expected to last at least until December 2026. Purpose of the position is to enable the business to succeed in the region while protecting the company from legal risks.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide legal advice to business functions in the Nordic region (Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia) to minimize legal risks
- Take part in the strategic decision making of the businesses with focus on the Consumer Health and Pharma divisions, aligned with Bayer’s guidelines and policies as well as the country regulations and legislations in the region
- Interact frequently with business and functional managers within the assigned area of responsibility
- Collaborate with outside counsels and other stakeholders
- Evaluate and balance legal risks with business needs and processes - also actively and constructively manage conflicts between these aspects
- Manage IP related matters in the Nordic region
- Create different legal documents
- Ensure the local legal entity’s compliance with the data privacy regulation and local requirements are aligned with global policies
WHO YOU ARE
- Law Degree (LLM) is demanded
- Relevant experience in at least one legal area of relevance, e. g. in Intellectual Property Law/Contract Law/Competition Law/Data Privacy Law/Marketing Law
- Knowledge of issues in the Nordic business/activity area and industry
- At least 5 years of professional experience in legal profession at the private sector or in a law firm
- Project management skills, including of local projects, understanding of IT tools and their application to facilitate legal counseling
- Customer interaction and advanced communication skills including presentation skills
- Efficient time management, prioritization and organizational skills
- Strong analytical skills including ability to identify and address root causes of issues
- Fluent Finnish and English as a legal language / written and oral, knowledge of other Scandinavian languages is preferred
- Additional preferred experience/knowledge:
- Experience from international environment
- Knowledge of substantive laws applicable to tasks including other areas of law relevant for the supported business
- Knowledge of cross-border and international issues affecting the relevant business unit
- Knowledge of products relevant in the respective client area
